Open Houses

Home

Port St Lucie Realty does not hold open houses. There are many reasons not to hold an open house, but here are just a few.

1. Open houses rarely produce the actual buyer

Most homes are sold to buyers who already have an agent and schedule private showings. Industry data consistently shows that only a tiny percentage of homes sell because of an open house.

Serious buyers book appointments — they don’t wander into open houses.

2. They attract lookers, neighbors, and unqualified people

Open houses tend to draw:

  • Curious neighbors
  • People “just browsing”
  • Unqualified buyers who haven’t spoken to a lender
  • Most are not ready, willing, or able to purchase your home

3. Security risks

Open houses allow anyone to walk through your home, including people with no intention of buying.

This increases risk for:

  • Theft of valuables
  • Personal items being photographed
  • Doors or windows being unlocked for later entry

4. They benefit the listing agent more than the seller

Many agents hold open houses as a lead generation tool — not because they expect it to sell your home. Open houses help agents meet new buyers, build their pipeline, and hand out business cards… but they rarely sell the home.

5. Serious buyers want private showings

People who are truly ready to make an offer want to view the property privately, without a crowd, with time to look closely, ask questions, and evaluate the home with their agent.

That’s when real offers happen — not during a Sunday open house.
